Urban Roast
Urban Roast reimagines a downtown West Palm Beach storefront as a day-to-night hospitality destination shaped by two opposing conditions: the lush Garden Edge to the north and the active Urban Edge to the south. Pedestrian movement from Clematis Street and the highly visible southeast corner informed the plan, placing bar and dining along the primary frontage while kitchen and service functions consolidate behind. At the center, a floating oval bar creates the social heart of the room. Open on every side, its continuous form connects guests across the space and encourages spontaneous interaction. Above, a suspended halo, layered materiality, and carefully controlled lighting allow the atmosphere to shift naturally from daytime café to energetic nightlife. The DJ, positioned prominently at the storefront, becomes a visible hero of the evening. Botanical and graphic wall coverings reinforce the garden/street duality, while full-height glazing connects interior activity to both patio and sidewalk. The result is a space built around transition—garden and city, inside and outside, daylight and nightlife—remaining visibly engaged with downtown throughout the day.
